erhaps you recently finished the Battle for Macragge missions and want to jump into more Warhammer 40,000. Perhaps you're a new hobbyist who likes a challenge. Either way, you want to start a brand-new, Apocalypse-ready army, and you're wondering if it's possible.

It can be done! One way to build up an Apocalypse-scale army from nothing is to collect battle formations and legendary units. For example, two of the super-heavy Baneblade tanks will occupy 1,000 points. Of course, the Forge World models consume thousands of points. Also, don't overlook the huge Apocalypse boxed sets. Two Space Marine Armoured Spearheads will yield roughly 1,800 points for six Land Raider models. Oh, and don't forget special characters!
Though an Apocalypse army made of a limited number of high-points models will get you on the Apocalyptic tabletop in a hurry, there is a catch. Such an army won't translate immediately into a regular Warhammer 40,000 force. However, that's not really a big deal, as you can always come back and pick up some non-gigantic models once you've played a few games of Apocalypse.
