One aspect of the Apocalypse supplement that will certainly get many players very excited is how it allows you to ally various armies together. The lack of force organisation charts doesn't just free you to take whatever units you like from your codex – it frees you to take whatever units you like from any codex.

Different players will have different reasons for allying. Some will take the opportunity to collect cool models they wouldn't otherwise have a reason to field. Some will be looking to add character and background to their main army, whilst others will be looking to achieve a specific effect on the tabletop. In many cases, more than one of these motivations will apply. Let's take a look at each approach, and what opportunities they offer.
