Super Heavy

AWESOME FIREPOWER

The blast from a super heavy mounted weapon can irradicate whole units of warriors in a single go!So, having assured that your battling behemoth is going to survive the game, it's important that you don't waste the offensive capabilities of your super heavy vehicle. As mentioned earlier, it's important that you have 'maintenance of aim', that is to say every shot fired by your super heavy should contribute to the whole war effort, whether that is defending objectives or allowing your units to break through the enemy and capture them. A super heavy tank can be versatile in the shooting phase, as each weapon can fire at a different target. In this regard, it's best to think of a super heavy vehicle as several different units. Many have 'secondary' antitank or anti-infantry weapons that can contribute to the firepower of other squads whilst the main weapon or weapons fulfill the super heavy vehicle's primary mission. Always look for opportunities to combine the firepower of a super heavy with other squads, although don't be afraid of combining it all against a single enemy if the situation warrants such devastation.

Perhaps more so than with other units, the timing of your super heavy's firing is vitally important. It's often tempting to fire its guns first, or to save it until last, but the immense damage that can be inflicted by a super heavy needs to be properly directed to have the greatest effect. For example, if an enemy has void shields or power fields, you might need to knock down these defences with other units first. Conversely, guns that fire a large template can potentially inflict casualties on many different units, which can then be finished off by supporting fire from other tanks and infantry squads. Always be sure that your super heavy tank is trying to do something that nothing else in the army can achieve – if you have other units capable of taking out that enemy tank or destroying those opposing assault troops, it's usually worth waiting to see if they can. In this respect, a super heavy can sometimes act as a 'plan b', destroying units that weren't quite finished off or taking out enemies that other units missed.

Well, that's just some general principles explored. There's obviously a lot to bear in mind if you are going to be a successful Baneblade commander or Titan Princeps, so let's look at a few super heavy vehicles in some more detail.
