MODELLING AND PAINTING GUIDE FOR
THE GOD OF KHORNE

Page: 1|2|3|4|5

KhorneKhorne renegades tend to be a bit on the psychotic side... even for Chaos. They prefer close-combat weaponry to get the job done over the less-personal bolter firefight. Khorne followers distinguish themselves in several ways. Red armour and brass edging are very common. Extra skulls on armour and shoulder pads as well as skull-like visages are another way to show their dedication. Chains, spikes, trophy racks, gore-stained weaponry, and long-range weapons with close combat attachments are dead giveaways as well. Below, you can find a few examples of ways to make your Chaos Renegade squad distinguish itself in the eyes of Khorne.

BRONZE FOR THE BLOOD GOD

Bronze is the favored metal of Khorne. As such, it might help to be able to paint it! Brazen Brass is a great colour, but it tends to be difficult to spread over large surfaces. However, there is a way to handle this issue by using a non-metallic colour mixed in with a metallic colour. This concept is demonstrated in this simple, 3-step method that'll help you churn out the bronze in the name of Khorne!

Mix up a 1:1 ratio of Shining Gold and Scorched Brown. Water down the mix and apply.

Go over the areas to be bronzed with a heavy highlight of straight Brazen Brass.

Finally, highlight the edges with a 1:1 mix of Brazen Brass and Mithril Silver.

MODELLING BLOOD AND GORE

The followers of Khorne revel in slaughter. To help psyche out your opponent and make your models look like they mean business, here's a great way to add gore to close-combat weapons.

Step 1 Step 2 Step 3

Mix up some Chaos Black, Blood Red, fine sand, white PVA glue, and water.

Your gore mix should look a little something like this. Be sure to use an old brush!

Step 4 Step 5 Step 6

Paint on the gore mix.

Let the mix dry.

End with Blood Red highlights.

MODELLING TROPHY RACKS

A few trophy racks are called for if a squad has decided to throw in with Khorne. Pointed stakes with skulls and such are fun! With a bit of ingenuity, you'll find that trophy racks aren't just for Aspiring Champions anymore. You can add trophy racks to backpacks and just behind the neck with ease.

Step 1 Step 2 Step 3

A selection of good candidates for trophy rack conversions.

This one was made from the Khorne Icon.

Here, a piece of another Icon acts as a trophy rack.

Step 4 Step 5 Step 6

Drill a hole for your spike.

Glue and fit it in place.

Keep adding trophy racks!

ADDING COMBAT BLADES TO GUNS

Khorne followers love to get to grips with their enemies. To represent this on a squad armed with bolters, close-combat attachments are the way to go. If a chainsword or axe isn't handy, just jab at the enemy with the muzzle of your gun!

Step 1 Step 2 Step 3

Combat knives make fine bayonets.

Clip the handles off the knives to make room on the guns.

Glue the knives in place and start choppin'!
