MODELLING AND PAINTING GUIDE FOR
THE GOD OF NURGLE

Page: 1|2|3|4|5

NurgleYou can smell a Nurgle follower way before you see him! At that point, it's probably too late; you may have already contracted some sort of nasty affliction. To dress up your Nurgle Renegades, try stuff like making three-eyed helmets, rusting weapons, puddles of ooze on bases, dirty armour, pustules, rotted armour, or adding a single horn to the centre of a helmet. On this page, you'll find some simple but effective ways to transform your "nice and clean" Chaos Space Marine models into filthy, crusty, sticky followers of Nurgle.

USING WASHES TO ADD THAT SPECIAL "NURGLE" TOUCH

A well-placed wash can add a subtle Nurgle feel to just about anything. A wash is made by diluting any standard Citadel Colour with water at about a 1:10 ratio. Below, a Chaos Space Marine has been subjected to several successive layers of different washes. You can choose whichever one suits you best, or combine a few. The end result gives off a weathered, dirty look to your model.

MODELLING CRUSTY ARMOUR

If you want your Chaos Space Marines to exhibit physical corrosion on their armour, here's a simple trick: use sand and glue. When the sand dries, it can be painted whatever rusty, moldy, disgusting colour you want. Having the sand on the armour will add depth to the paint job.

Step 1 Step 2 Step 3

Spread some super glue.

Dip the model in sand.

Let it dry before painting.

MAKING ROTTED AND PITTED ARMOUR

Another simple trick that'll add some variety to your squads while giving them a Nurgle vibe is rotted armour. A few pockets of pitted armour really adds character and is fun to paint.

Step 1 Step 2 Step 3

Drill a few holes into the armour with a pin vise.

Score some cracks and blasts into the armour.

This suit of power armour has seen better days!

SCULPTING SIMPLE PUSTULES

If you are carrying an Icon of Nurgle around, there are bound to be a few side effects. In the case below: pustules and boils. These are a snap to make, and each one you make is unique.

Step 1 Step 2 Step 3

Place a blob of putty where you generally want the boil to be.

Use the flat end of a sculpting tool to smooth out the putty.

Poke into the putty to make open, broken sores.

Step 4 Step 5 Step 6

Using the bladed edge, draw the putty out into ridges.

Keep poking and raising the area until you are satisfied.

Once you get the hang of it, try adding a few more!
