THE HISTORY OF THE CHAOS SPACE MARINES
The first quarter of the 104-page Codex: Chaos Space Marines concerns itself with exploring the sordid past of these once-loyal and righteous champions. Beginning with the origins of the the Primarchs and Space Marines, this section continues to tell how soldiers with such powerful minds and bodies can fall to the whispers of the Chaos gods. From there, it is but a short jump to the a detailed description of each of the Chaos gods and the potential destinies of a Space Marine who turns his loyalty from the Emperor to these dark masters.

With this ancient stage set, Codex: Chaos Sapce Marines regails us with the greatest battle of Chaos in the history of the Imperium: the Horus Heresy. This war of order versus ultimate evil tells the tale of the seduction and treachery of Horus and the salvation of mankind by the power of the Emperor.
Finally, in this section, Gav and Alessio explain what the followers of the Chaos gods have been up to since their initial attempt to overthrow the Emperor and plunge the galaxy into eternal darkness. These pages tell the tales of how so many chapters of Space Marines have fallen to the ways of Chaos since the Horus Heresy.

THE FORCES OF CHAOS
The second 40 pages of the Codex describe the forces used by the Chaos Space Marines in their struggle to cast down the False Emperor. Within these pages you will find a detailed account of all of the units, Special Characters, Special Rules, unique Wargear, and abominable allies (Summoned Daemons) that you, as a fledgling or veteran Chaos Lord, can use to build a warband to bring war to your enemies.
