Painted by Ty Finocchiaro – moderate conversion work.
Ty Finocchiaro: I set out out build a Chaos Sorcerer using only the bitz from the Chaos Lord sprue. Seeing as there are plenty of options present, this wasn't too difficult a task. There were no changes made to the legs and body of the model besides adding a row of spikes along the top carapace of the armour. Instead, I wanted to focus on the pose of the arms. This was easy to accomplished, as all that was necessary to change things up were simple adjustments at the wrists. For the weaponry, I wanted to make each item, a twin-linked bolter and force weapon, unique. I trimmed the knife from the bolter and added an additional clip to accentuate the antiquated nature of the weapon. For the force weapon, I clipped off the tip of the original force weapon and added the head of the power axe. A small plate from the sprue covers up the seam where the two pieces meet. All that was left to finish up was the head. I choose the spikiest head from the sprue and added yet another in the form of a central tusk.
When it came time to paint the model, I chose not to glue it to the base. Personally, I prefer to paint the base separate if it all possible. So, as shown here, I drilled a couple of holes into the big star base and added pins to the Sorcerer's feet. I decided to paint the model as a Steel Brethren Chaos Marine because I wanted to test out some metallic highlighting techniques.
