BUILDING DESIGN NOTES
Both the ideas for the new plastic buildings and the mega table from the book came from the Studio Hobby Team. We interview two of its members in this article.

he new building sprues are amazing, and they make the Cities of Death expansion a lot of fun to play. Of course, these cool things didn't just pop out of the Warp. Before the book was written, Dave Andrews of the Studio Hobby Team had to work out functional concepts for the new plastic buildings. Once he had the concept down, Roberto Cirillo began sketching out the look of each individual building panel – front and back – along with other fun little details like street lamps and exhaust stacks. Then, Games Workshop sculptors Colin Grayson, Tim Adcock, and Mike Anderson took these concepts and sketches and made them into finalised building frames. At that point, Andy Hoare of the Games Development Team grabbed a few prototype buildings and started playtesting with them and writing up the Cities of Death expansion book. Meanwhile, Dave Andrews and the rest of the Hobby Team (including Neil Hodgson, Mark Jones, Chad Mierzwa, Dominic Murray, Adrian Wood, and Jeremy Vetock) set about building the monster city table that would be featured in the hobby section of the book.

To learn more about the Cities of Death project, we cornered master hobbyist Dave Andrews (pictured left) and Hobby Team Manager Jeremy Vetock (pictured right) and interrogated them about what it took to re-create the deadly urban combat zones of the 41st millennium.
