Christian: When I do a conversion, I always try to work in plastic if I can. With plastic you can easily cut and glue bits of one model onto another. The Sorcerer started out simply enough as a Chaos Champion, before I added the Raptor bolt pistol arm, from there, it all went down hill.

HeadI then carefully cut the left arm (a power fist taken from the Chaos Space Marines Accessory sprue) just below the elbow and pinned Mephiston's force sword and hand onto the end to complete the arm. The head is one of the Chaos Space Marine heads with a topknot, selected for its Emperor's Children look, from the basic Chaos Space Marines sprue.

The rest of the model is made using bits and pieces from the loose sprues in my bits box, adding something a bit different, without losing the overall integrity of the original model. (We've mentioned a few good sprues to use above - Web Team). The last touch was to take a piece of wire and run it out of his armour beneath his left arm, to his backpack - this is meant to simulate daemonic ichor being pumped into his system to feed his sorcerous power.

When it came to painting I wanted the armour to look like a combination of traditional Black Legion colours and archaic bronzed armour, scored from centuries of war. It is only the helmet that is different, as I decided to paint that in the traditional colours of the Sons of Horus.
