Tau War Correspondent with portable cameraNikos: The Tau have been my favourite 40K army (all round) since their release. I love the look, the background and the models! Since their release I've closely watched articles in White Dwarf about them (in fact, anything related to the Tau!). In White Dwarf 263 there was an article about a Tau "front line report" which sparked my imagination. In my opinion, the Tau are closer to a "modern day" army than many others, and who can forget the reporters and TV journalists reporting live from battle zones across the world.

Tau camera operatorThe conversion was quite easy. Having previously built a Devilfish APC, I had one or two pieces remaining. First I used the tank crewman and his left arm (after filing off the binoculars). A spare right arm was taken from the Tau Fire Warrior sprue and positioned to hold the camera. The camera itself was made from the magazine of the old pintle-mounted storm bolter. The front lense was made from the base of an antenna. Both components were taken from the old Imperial Guard vehicle sprue. A Tau helmet antenna, taken from the Fire Warrior sprue, was then used to get that "Tau" look.

Camera power packFinally, a small piece or wire was used to connect the camera to the power pack. The power pack itself was taken from a Tau flamer that I had left over from a Tau Battlesuit model.

Note: The writing on the side of the power pack reads "BBC" in Tau.
