Owen:
While reading the new Bubonic Court of Nurglitch army list in Warhammer Realms: Lustria, I noticed that some of the army list entries didn't have associated models - specifically for the Pusbags and Rotten Rodents. I could use the plastic regiment sets of Clanrats or Plague Monks but I wanted my models to look that little bit special. Now I don't normally do evil armies or Skaven, but a change is as good as the rest as they say and I fancied trying some models out to see if I liked them!

I came up with this deceptively simple conversion. The parts are easy - one boxed set of Plague Monks and one boxed set of Clanrats.

MAKING ROTTEN RODENTS

The bodies of the miniatures in the Plague Monks regiment come as a one-piece plastic cast. I carefully cut each one in half with a fine grade Citadel modelling saw, and then trimmed them up. The top halves I put to one side. The bottom halves, which are robed, I glued to 20mm bases as usual. I then glued the torso parts from the Clanrats regiment set to the top of these. The addition of the Clanrat hand weapon arms and heads completed these models. The end result is a rat which is quite upright, with a strong martial looking torso, and rotten pus-encrusted rags around its legs - perfect for Rotten Rodents, who are wannabe Plague Monks after all! To complete the conversion I added a few buboes to the faces of the Clanrats (as they looked a little too healthy without them). These were made out of small balls of Green Stuff.

MAKING PUSBAGS

The Pusbags were easy as well. Taking the top halves of the cut-up Plague Monk bodies, I glued these to the legs from the Clanrats boxed set. Adding the flails and heads from the Plague Monk set, and the rat tails from the Clanrat set, completed these dishevelled looking creatures. This conversion created hunched over, disease-ridden creatures, looking much smaller than the basic Plague Monk or Rotten Rodent and ideal as slaves to the Court of Nurglitch.

CONCLUSION

With the addition of command models created in the same way using this conversion, two units of Pusbags and Rotten Rodents can be made out of two regiment sets - meaning minimal waste for this conversion! After painting them, as described in Warhammer Realms: Lustria, I am very pleased with the way they've turned out. Maybe I might be tempted by the whiskered ones after all...
