Nick:
Each Mountaineer was constructed from the basic Dwarf Warrior model. For the normal
Mountaineers I used the Mordheim blunderbuss arms and filed them down so that
they'd fit onto the Dwarf Warrior bodies snugly. For the champion, only the right
blunderbuss arm was used and the left arm cut off and filed down. This was then
cut at the wrist and rotated so that the blunderbuss was pointing in the air.
I used an arm from the Middenheimer Accessory sprue for the left arm, and again
this was filed down at the shoulder so that it would fit with the smaller stature
of the Dwarf.
For the Musician I used a Dwarf great axe arm taken from the Dwarf Regiment sprue. I cut off the weapon, filed it down and added a handgun from the Mordheim Accessory sprue. For the left arm I filed down the shoulder of the King Kazador Thunder Horn arm.
After
adding a lantern to the Standard Bearer it was a simple case of adding rope,
barrels and skis to complete the models. The skis were taken from Dwarf models
I had lying about from many many years ago. Unfortunately, they are no longer
available, but skis could easily be fashioned from small pieces of plasticard,
available from hobby stores.
And there you have Dwarf Mountaineers – Yodel-a-di-hoo!
