CREATIVE BASES
The sheer size of the Spider Queen bases leave ample opportunity for you to express just how you feel about your opponent's force – in this case, you can see that I have no love for the Wood Elves. You can use modelling putty to create some volume and break up the flatness of the base. Pieces of slate mashed into the putty also help break up the landscape. Finally, you can mangle a few of your favourite foe's models (Wood Elves... ohhhh, the joy!) and place them on the base in death poses. You might note that when it came time to paint the slaughtered Elves, I stained their flesh with a purple wash to represent the after effects of the powerful Spider Queen's venom. Be sure to keep the Spider Queen model itself in mind while making your base. Detail-oriented readers may observe several holes and depressions within the putty in the "raw" base photos below. These divots are markings for the placement of a particular Spider Queen's legs. This way, you can easily flock and paint the base before adding the Spider model and avoid any mishaps when affixing the Queen to her base.

One last point worth mentioning involves the Spider Queen's Broodling bases. You can buff them up to blend into their bases naturally with a bit of putty work and small pebbles. Brave hobbyists could even sculpt additional Broodlings on the base. Now you should be properly armed with the knowledge to create and field your very own eight-legged horrors in the name of Evil in Middle-earth!
