CONVERTING GOBLIN CAPTAINS

The Goblin Captains form the glue that helps keep the average Goblin horde from dissolving into a chaotic rabble. These smarter-than-average and ruthless creatures instill order through violence. Given their rather important stature within a force of Goblins, it only make sense to spend a little more time making them special so that they'll stand out from the masses.

This page features two Goblin Captain conversions. Hopefully they'll help you along with your own conversions or spark an idea or two. The Goblins are both from the Goblin War Drum blister pack, and they were converted using a few extra parts from plastic kits and some simple putty work. These simple conversions show what you can produce with some effort and bits from sprues you may already have lying around.

To make the sword-armed Goblin Captain, replace the Drummer's head with a beaked armoured helmet from the Mordor Orc plastic sprue. Next, sculpt a tiny bit of hair on the back of the head and neck to hide the join between the head and the torso. Finish by clipping off the bone drumsticks and replacing them with swords from the Warg Rider plastic sprue.

For the second Goblin Captain, also remove its head with clippers. This time, use a standard Armoured Goblin head from the plastic sprue. Once in place, sculpt hair once again to hide any gaps to mask the new addition. To accommodate the new weapon, gently reposition the arms with a pair of pliers. Drill holes in both hands carefully and then slide the steel rod (a paperclip is perfect) axe haft through the slots. Add an axe head to this haft from the Mordor Orcs plastic sprue.
