GETTING STARTED WITH ELDAR

PAINTING YOUR ELDAR
Once your models have an undercoat, painting can begin. Below you will
find a simple-but-effective colour scheme using only eight colours. Follow
the detailed instructions and check out the stage-by-stage images as you
paint your model for reference. Don't fret if the model doesn't come out
picture perfect in the end, painting takes time and practice to master.
Just do the best you can each time and be open to learning new techniques
from others. Before you know it, you'll be quite an accomplished painter
with models you'll be proud to
field on the tabletop!

Assemble
the model and undercoat it with Skull White Spray Undercoat. Basecoat the entire
model with a 3:1 wash of Yellow Ink and Flesh Wash (ink) with a drop of Gloss Varnish
(the Varnish eliminates the surface tension of the wash so it won't
pool in the crevices).

Paint
the armour Golden Yellow and paint the outer part of the helmet with
Regal Blue. Paint the gun with Vermin Brown.

Highlight the armour with Sunburst Yellow and highlight
the helmet with a 1:1 mix of Regal Blue and Ultramarines Blue. Prepare
any gems, hoses, and the eyes by painting them with Chaos Black. Paint
the gun with a coat of straight Bleached Bone.

Continue highlighting the armour with Bad Moon Yellow
and the helmet with Ultramarines Blue. Paint a layer of Red Gore on
the gems and eyes and highlight any black pieces with a thinned-down
Codex Grey. Paint a highlight of 1:1 Vermin Brown and Bleached Bone
on the gun, leaving the previous coat showing in the cracks.

Finish highlighting the armour with a thinned mix of
1:1 Bad Moon Yellow and Skull White. Highlight the eyes and all of
the gems with Blood Red and add a small dot of Skull White to them
for a light-reflection effect.
Paint the base to match your growing Eldar army (we used Goblin Green in this example) and add flock or static grass to finish off the model. |
