After you have undercoated your model Chaos Black, start off with a nice basecoat of Regal Blue on all the armour. Leave the helmet and weaponry Chaos Black for now. |
Water down some Enchanted Blue and begin to highlight the armour. Apply paint to the edges of the armour and high points of the rounded surfaces. |
Finish off the armour with a selective and careful highlight of Ice Blue mixed with Enchanted Blue. Next, paint the majority of the helmet and tabard with Ice Blue. |

Go back over the helmet and tabard with a few layers of watered-down Skull White. This step will take a few coats, so be patient. Once you're done, go back and repaint any of the black areas (like the Shuriken Catapult, faceplate, and tubing) with Chaos Black. |
Gently highlight the edges of all the Chaos Black items with Codex Grey. Use just the edge of the brush to pick up the very edges of the Shuriken Catapult, faceplate, etc. With this out of the way, add some colour to your Dire Avenger by alternating Golden Yellow on the head crest. |
Paint the eyes Liche Purple and then paint all the metallics like the Shuriken Catapult, gemstone casings, and charms with Brazen Brass. Paint the base and the gemstones to your liking, apply some transfers, and you're all set! |
