LANDING DIAS
The Hobby Team built up this piece from several layers of individual foamcore pieces. They traced out shapes onto the foamcore from paper templates with a felt-tipped marker. Once cut out, they assembled everything with white PVA glue. When the glue dried, the overall shape began to take form under the skillful application of a utility knife and sandpaper. The team filled gaps with spackling and then sanded everything smooth once it dried. To make the damaged areas, they simply chipped away at the structure with a knife. They made the two hourglass shapes by getting two stair banisters and cutting them to the appropriate length. These pre-made objects have great shapes that suited Eldar architecture well. They added small gem-like ovals to these banisters to give them more of an Eldar look. To finish, the Hobby Team cut out a base from hardboard, glued the ruins to it, and textured the base with a mix of sand and gravel.
