War in the Lands of the Empire
THE RIVER WAR

Page: 1|2|3|4|5|6

The many rivers of the Empire can in times of great danger serve as strong, defensible positions. If an Elector Count can keep an Orc Horde from making it across such an obstacle, the Waaagh!!! is all but stemmed. However, if an invading army establishes a foothold, as Gorbad Ironclaw's Orc army did against the forces of Solland, disaster for the Empire can ensue.

ARMIES Scenario Deployment Map

Players must decide who will play as the Defender (the Empire) and who will play as the Attacker. Then, they should choose their armies to an agreed points total and use Warhammer army lists. However, the Defender can use half the number of points as the Attacker. For example, 2,000 points of Attackers would face 1,000 points of Defenders.

BATTLEFIELD

A massive river cuts through the middle of the length of the battlefield separating the two armies. This river is 12" wide, with 6" of it being on each player's half. For every foot of river width, there should be 6" of river that you've designated shallow, fordable water — the rest of the river is very difficult terrain.

DEPLOYMENT

Use the standard deployment (as described on p. 2 of the Warhammer rulebook).

WHO GOES FIRST?Beastmen crossing the river.

The Defender goes first.

LENGTH OF GAME

This game lasts 6 turns, or until one side surrenders.

SPECIAL RULES

Last Line of Defense. The Defending army is all thatseparates the invaders from the Defender's families. The Defenders are thus Immune to Panic.

VICTORY CONDITIONS

The invading force's sole goal is to get a foothold on the opposite shore, and the Defender's mission is to stop this from happening.

At the end of the game, calculate how many points of troops each army has on the Defender's side of the table.

To win, the Attackers must end the game with more troops on the Defender's half of the table than the Defenders. If the Defenders have more troops on their half of the table, they win the game.
