Crossbows have a longer range than handguns and are far more easily produced, though they lack the penetrative power of handguns. Most Elector Counts retain a sizeable number of Crossbow regiments, while mercenary Crossbowmen (particularly those from Tilea) are frequently recruited to augment the firepower of an Empire army.

You may include a unit of State Handgunners or State Crossbowmen as a Core Units choice in your Empire army.
