CONVERTING & PAINTING ARTILLERY MISFIRES
Artillery in the Warhammer world can be as dangerous to the crew manning it as the enemy. When misfires occur - and it's only a matter of time - you can have a lot of fun modelling the crews and bases of these disasters. Veteran hobbyist Martin Cox shows us how to depict artillery misfires.

However, this reliance really lays a burden on my crewmen. I felt the need to "properly" represent my crewmen on the tabletop: broken, haggard, and — for the most part — competent. While I was hard at work modelling these maimed-but-very-lucky souls, I was inspired to create a couple of "Misfire" dioramas. I would use these dioramas to represent those crewmen who were, well, not so lucky. Besides serving as a creative outlet, these small scenes of artillery horror would be the perfect things to slap onto the table when that nasty Misfire result rears its ugly head.
On the following pages, I'll jabber about how and why I made the injured crewmen and go over some of the techniques I used to create the artillery mishap dioramas. Plus, there are lots of pictures to get you psyched. After perusing these pages, you might just be moved to make some dioramas of your own.

This cannon will never fire again!
