2008 Games Day Miniature

Included with this year's ticket,
the Games Day 2008 exclusive miniature depicts a mighty Space Marine Captain wielding a thunder hammer.

It's been a strange year for the Games Day Project Team; as we planned for changes in the event content, circumstances were to lead us to what will be the biggest Games Day ever. This year we won't be using the Forum Hall which has previously contained the Games Workshop and Forge World sales stands, the Hobby Zones and the Bring & Battle Tables. This year we will be moving along one hall and using Hall 1 of the NEC complex, along with the Arena and Pavilion Halls we have used before.

Most of you will have your tickets by now, and will be anticipating the activities, personalities and cool stuff you'll see within the three halls at the NEC this year.

THE ARENA

Participation Games and Mega Battles
The whole Arena floor will be covered with participation games this year. Games Workshop Hobby Centres and Independent Clubs from across the UK and beyond have made some excellent themed tables and painted miniatures. With everything from enormous set piece battles in the world of Warhammer to Ork Trukk racing in the Warhammer 40,000 universe; all you need to do is turn up and play.

Stage & Screen
Keep an eye on the stage throughout the day as we expect images of New Releases and Golden Demon entries to be displayed on screen. Make sure you take your seats at the end of the show in plenty of time to see the big screen display images of the winning Golden Demon entries as the awards are declared.

THE PAVILION

Golden Demon entrants can register here. The Pavilion is also where all the entries for the painting competition will be displayed. As well as viewing the miniatures 'in the flesh' you can admire some of the best entries close up with the help of the plasma screens at each end of the Golden Demon stand. Good luck to all the competitors vying for the coveted Golden Demon Slayer Sword!

You can download and fill out the
Golden Demon Entry Form from here.

The Gaming Club Network (GCN)
This network of independent gaming clubs goes from strength to strength with members all across the UK . They are supporting Games Day this year with a number of participation games in the Arena Hall. In addition they have an assembly area in the Pavilion where they are on hand to discuss the benefits of starting a club in your area and joining the GCN.

The Studio & Tooling
These deptartments are vital to the development of Games Workshop's games and models and this year they will each have their own area to provide you with a snapshot of the design process. If you ever wondered how we get from concept art sketches to 'Eavy Metal painted miniatures and boxed sets in our stores, now's your chance to find out. You'll also have the chance to meet artists, games developers, miniatures sculptors, 'Eavy Metal painters and scenery makers, so if there's any question about our games and miniatures that you want to ask, this is where to do it!

White Dwarf
White Dwarf will be around again this year, taking pictures, conducting interviews and generally wandering about the event. In addition, you can approach them to ask questions about past articles, future issues or anything White Dwarf related. We're also hoping to persuade previous White Dwarf Editors to make an appearance to autograph your favourite issues.

The Archive
Each year we like to remind you about some of the bygone products that Games Workshop has developed. Come and see this display continuing our celebrations of the 25th Anniversary of the Launch of Warhammer, the game of fantasy battles.

Art CompetitionArt Competition
Budding artists are challenged to bring along a piece of A4 drawn or painted art to put on display and be judged by one of our Studio artists. Entries will be sorted into two age categories with category winners receiving an award at the end of the day.

HALL ONE

Sales Stands
Taking advantage of the new-found space, our Sales Stands will be located in Hall One and promise to be the biggest ever, affording you more space to look through the goodies that will be available to buy.

The focus of this year's Sales Stand will of course be Warhammer 40,000 including the brand new Space Marines. These superhuman warriors can be yours to own before anyone else!

There will also be miniatures from our current ranges as well as a brand new feature to the Games Day Sales Stands where you will be able to see many future releases and what we have in store for Christmas!
