I Make the Earth Shake
TAKING THE WAR MÛMAK OF HARAD ONE STEP FURTHER

Page: 1|2|3|4|5|6|7|8

ARROWS

The massive Mûmak can sustain a great deal of damage before succumbing. Because of this survivability, these beasts often have large battle scars or entire volleys of arrows lodged in their hide. You can easily make scars with a bit of putty sculpted into a thin, ragged line. Arrows, however, are a bit more involved. Follow the steps below to make your own arrows and add them to your Mûmak.

Making shafts
Shafts
Drilling holes in the hide of the Mumak

Start with a decent pair of clippers and chop up thin-gauged wire or brass rod into arrow shafts. Take care not to send shards of thin wire into your eye or across the room! To avoid this try to secure both halves of the wire as you cut it. These arrow shafts should be about 1/2" long. Select where you want each arrow to go and drill appropriately sized holes into the Mûmak.

Adding the shafts
The shafts are added
Making the flights

Add a drop of glue to the end of an arrow shaft and place it within one of the holes you drilled earlier. Now, dig up an index card or other thick piece of paper. Really thin plasticard will work well, too. Cut a very thin strip from the material you've chosen and then cut along the strip at an angle. You should have a pile of small diamonds that'll form the arrow fletching. See the picture above and to the right to see this step in progress.

Applying glue to the shafts
Fletching the shafts
Finished arrows

Use a toothpick to apply glue to an arrow shaft. Then, use tweezers to place the fletching in place along the end of each shaft. This process will take some serious patience, but the finished result looks really cool, so stick with it.

Now the Mumak is peppered with arrows
