MEAN, GREEN TOASTING MACHINE
There are few pleasures in wargaming as intense and satisfying as laying down a flame template over a massive regiment of rat-things and inhaling the stench of burning fur and terror. One of the greatest advantages to fielding any Elf army is the ability to include several tons of scaly, muscle bound, flaming, terrifying Dragon. And if you are still not convinced, the look on your opponent's face as you place the monster on the table should offset any further doubts.

PAINTING ATANATH THE EMERALD
The Dragons' underbelly was painted by slowly layering Dark Angels Green mixing greater amounts of Snot Green then Camo Green. Several light washes of Chaos Black + Scorched Brown + water (1:2:10) were applied where the flesh meets the scales and over the wings to give it a dirtier, older and more weathered look.
The scales were painted Dark Angels Green, then highlighted Snot Green, then rehighlighted using a mix of Snot Green + Golden Yellow. Finally they were highlighted with a fine line of Golden Yellow on the top edges of each scale. By the time you have done this you will be ready to eat your own head in sheer exasperation.
