A STEP-BY-STEP GUIDE TO PAINTING HIGH ELF DETAILS

This article will set you on your way to painting the unique details of your High Elves to the standard that this glorious army deserves.

RUNES

Stage 1 Stage 2 Stage 3 Stage 4

1

Runes can be any colours you like – for this step-by-step guide, we decided to use gold colours. Runes are one of the last things you will paint on your model, as it's much easier to paint a rune over other colours than paint around it. So, after the rest of your model has been painted, start out by painting the rune you have chosen using Tin Bitz.

2

Next, with straight Shining Gold, paint the inside of the rune. Don't paint all the way to the edge of the Tin Bitz. Leave a slice of Tin Bitz showing around the edges, as this will help make your rune really stand out against the background.

3

Now, highlight around the edges of the Shining Gold you just painted with Burnished Gold. Start at the edges and work your way in so that the center of the rune is darker than the edges.

4

Lastly, using a 1:1 mix of Burnished Gold and Mithril Silver, highlight around the very edges of the rune. Making sure not to cover all of the Burnished Gold you painted in the previous step. If you need to, you can now go back around the edges with Tin Bitz to give them more definition.
