BY DOMINIC MURRAY

Page: 1|2|3|4|5

Farmer Maggot

Farmer Maggot
Scythe
Steps 1 - 3
1

Paint Farmer Maggot's scythe handle with Scorched Brown.

2

Pick out the lines of wood grain in Bestial Brown.

3

To finish off, paint a fine highlight of Vomit Brown on top of the Bestial Brown.

Farmer Maggot has a more rustic look than most Hobbits. We'll show you a few special techniques like how to get the appearance of natural fabric on his smock and how to achieve a wood grain effect on the scythe.

We'll also show you several techniques for painting Maggot's dogs Grip, Fang, and Wolf. We'll show you how to paint two-tone coats on the dogs and a few additional quick tricks to make your models stand out.

Smock
Steps 1 - 3
1

Basecoat the smock with Graveyard Earth.

2

Apply a layer of Desert Yellow. Leave some Graveyard Earth showing in the recesses. Next, apply a highlight of Kommando Khaki.

3

Finally, add a small amount of Skull White to Kommando Khaki and pick out the cloth edges.

Grip & Fang
Steps 1 - 4
1

To highlight the black undercoat, mix equal parts Chaos Black and Vomit Brown and paint the raised areas.

2

Paint the ankles and ears with Scorched Brown.

3

Paint Vermin Brown on top of the Scorched Brown but leave some Scorched Brown showing.

4

Finish off with a final highlight of Vomit Brown on the legs and ears.

Wolf

Steps 1 - 4
1

Paint a basecoat of Scorched Brown all over Wolf's coat.

2

Highlight with a 1:1 mix of Scorched and Vermin Brown. Leave some Scorched Brown showing in the recesses.

3

Apply additional highlights with a 1:1 mix of Vermin Brown and Vomit Brown.

4

Finally, add a little Bleached Bone to the last mix and paint the feet and ears.
