MAKING CHAOS MONOLITHS

Page: 1|2|3|4|5

KHORNE

Khorne monoliths are generally littered with skulls and the bodies of defeated enemies. Some are simply made from a solid block of brass. However, one thing is going to be a constant when dealing with these structures, they will almost always be a gory and bloody affair!

1

This monolith was cut from an rectangle of foam. The top was angled downwards as it was to serve as a sacrificial altar, soon to be washed with blood.

Various spiky bits and a Khorne symbol were glued onto the monolith. Rungs of a ladder were placed on one side of the monolith for access to the top of the pillar. Finally a casualty model was placed on the top.

To simulate blood running down the sides of the monolith, wood glue was carefully poured down the front and left to dry. This was repeated until the glue built up and dried thickly.

Painting the piece was simple. After basing the monolith Chaos Black, Red Gore was drybrushed over the entire area. Once this was dry, Blood Red was drybrushed over the monolith in the same manner. Blood Red was then painted straight onto the dried wood glue and pooled about the base of the piece.
