Painted Cadian Shock Trooper

Once your models have an undercoat, painting can begin. Below you will find a simple-but-effective colour scheme using only 10 colours. Follow the detailed instructions and check out the stage by stage images as you paint your model for reference. Don't fret if the model doesn't come out picture perfect in the end, painting takes time and practice to master. Just do the best you can each time and be open to learning new techniques from others. Before you know it, you'll be quite an accomplished painter with models you'll be proud to game with!

1

Start your basecoat by painting the Guardsman's uniform Scorched Brown. Make a few mental notes as you paint by locating future highlight areas. Next, paint the flak armour, lasgun and various belt accessories Dark Angels Green.

Add some colour to the model's face and hands with Dark Flesh. Leave some of the recessed skin areas black by painting the raised areas. Grab Boltgun Metal next and spread it onto metallic gun bits, belt buckles, and buttons.

3

Go over the uniform with watered down Graveyard Earth. Paint this coat on in a thoughtful manner and try to work with the folds of the cloth to create convincing highlights. Carefully edge the flak armour and lasgun with Catachan Green. Use a steady hand and thin line of paint on the edges of the armour and gun. Continue to add colour to the face by mixing Tanned Flesh + Dark Flesh and applying it to the model. Your Guardsman is certainly good enough for gaming now!

4

Mix a bit of Graveyard Earth + Kommando Khaki and further highlight the guardsman's uniform. Water down this mix to make the blending a bit easier. The boots, various belts and a few items like the knife sheath have yet to receive any paint. Rectify this by mixing a bit of Chaos Black into Codex Grey and highlighting these areas. Simply carefully edge the belts and such to give off a faint highlight. Also paint any Imperial Eagle icons using this mix.

5

Finish the model by painting the Imperial Eagle icons Skull White, adding some Blood Red to the lasgun nub under the gun barrel, and applying transfers. Paint the model's base however you wish and consider yourself done!

Time to get your freshly painted models onto the tabletop for their first battle.
