URBAN BASES

With the Cities of Death expansion just around the corner, I took the opportunity to model my Vostroyans on urban bases.

The large bases required for Heavy weapons teams give you the opportunity to create very interesting bases – small scenes in their own right.

REMOVABLE LOADERS

You can make your loaders removable by cutting a 25mm circle from the polystyrene foam that forms the top layer of the urban base.

BASING MATERIALS

Making Urban bases is very simple. The main thing is gathering all your different materials together. After that it's just a matter of arranging them how you like. These are some of the materials you can use:

  1. Polystyrene foam. Make sure you seal this with PVA glue if you intend to spray undercoat!
  2. Modelling sand.
  3. Styrene sheet. Available from hobby stores, comes in a variety of shapes and patterns.
  4. Spare bits from the new Warhammer 40,000 buildings.

It's a good idea to pin your miniatures to their urban bases to increase their durability.
