The Use of Siege Engines
URUK-HAI CLARIFICATIONS

How many points does an Uruk-hai bomb team cost? And what about a battering ram, a ladder, and a siege assault machine?

We decided not to quantify the cost of siege equipment just as we haven't assigned points values to gates and sections of walls. The reason is that this equipment can be used only in sieges and not in normal games. Therefore, we left it up to the players to agree how many assault tools they would give to the Attackers. The value of the siege equipment is relative, depending on the defences to be attacked. It is up to the players to make sure the game is fair and balanced when they play a scenario different from the one we included in The Two Towers rulebook. Even when players are going to use an established scenario with forces other than those dictated by the scenario rules, the players must consider the quantity of assault equipment dictated in the Participants section to be only a guideline. Players should be prepared to alter the guideline as appropriate to the forces they have chosen.

After all, a siege is a complicated matter, requires a lot of terrain, and is not something that your average beginner would design. Thus, we assume that the people creating siege scenarios are experienced enough to determine an appropriate amount of siege equipment for their game.

How many Uruk-hai form the crew of a Siege Assault Machine?

Uruk-hai Bomb TeamEach Siege Assault Machine has a crew of three Uruk-hai warriors armed with swords. As long as there are at least two of these crew members within 1" (2 cm) of the machine and they are not engaged in combat, they can fire the machine as normal. Otherwise, the machine cannot fire.

What is an Uruk-hai bomb team?

We meant to say, but we actually never did. Whoops! A bomb team consists of a demolition charge carried by two Uruk-hai armed with swords.
