PAINTING MORIA GOBLINS

Goblins are small, mean-spirited creatures that live a troglodyte existence in the numerous dwellings beneath the Misty Mountains. The ancient Dwarf tunnels of Moria have become home to these loathsome monsters. Their armour and weapons reflect the dingy life these creatures lead in the darkness. Below, you'll find one way to paint your Goblins. Prepare your models first by undercoating them with Chaos Black, let it dry, and then follow the step-by-step instructions.

1

The first four steps are short and simple, as they involve drybrushing metallic colours. If you're going to drybrush with metallics, it's better to do those first so you don't accidentally drybrush onto another part that you may have already painted. Begin by painting a heavy drybrush on the armour and knife blade with Tin Bitz.

2

Next, create a 1:1 mix of of Tin Bitz and Chainmail and drybrush it over the armour and knife.

3

Now, lightly drybrush the edges of the armour and knife with straight Chainmail.

4

To create the look of old, rusted armour, lightly drybrush the armour and edges of the blade with Blazing Orange. Just a little will make it look sufficiently rusty.

Now that you have gotten the metallic drybrushing out of the way, it's time to start on the base colours. Make sure you clean out your water after using the metallic paint, as it can leave behind some silvery residue that will show up in regular colours. Once you have done that, paint the skin of the Goblin with Gretchin Green Citadel Foundation Paint. Then, paint the cloth he is wearing with Scab Red.

6

Next, use a 1:1 mix of water and Flesh Wash to paint over all the skin areas. Then, highlight the cloth with some Red Gore. Once the Flesh Wash has dried, paint the Goblin's eyes with Iyanden Darksun Citadel Foundation Paint.

7

Paint the Goblin's skin with a 1:1 mix of Gretchin Green and Rotting Flesh while being careful to leave the darker colour underneath showing in the recesses of the face. Lightly highlight the cloth with Blood Red. Then, highlight the eyes with Golden Yellow.

8

Lastly, highlight the skin with straight Rotting Flesh. Lightly highlight the Goblin's hair, gloves, and any straps with Adeptus Battlegrey. Then, with Chaos Black, paint pupils in the eyes.

1

Paint the Goblin's shield much like you did his armour. First, drybrush the shield with Tin Bitz.

2

Then, create a 1:1 mix of Tin Bitz and Chainmail and drybrush the armour and knife.

3

Lightly drybrush the edges of the armour and knife with straight Chainmail.

4

Finally, lightly drybrush the armour and edges of the blade with Blazing Orange. Once again, this colour will make it look like a poorly maintained, rusty Goblin weapon.
