Legions of Middle-earth
EXPANSION PREVIEW

Armies are gathering; Middle-earth is at war. Be prepared for the coming conflict by checking out this preview of the new Legions of Middle-earth expansion.

Legions of Middle-earthThe Legions of Middle-earth expansion has been unleashed, and playing The Lord of The Rings Strategy Battle Game will never be the same again! While other sourcebooks concentrate on narrative scenarios that re-create scenes from the books and films, Legions of Middle-earth is all about large armies of Citadel miniatures clashing on the battlefield. Players can use the new army lists found in this expansion to create armies from their miniatures collections to pit against their fellow players.

MAKING ARMIES

With over 40 themed army list in the Legions of Middle-earth expansion, players have a lot of options from which to choose. With just a single collection of The Lord of The Rings miniatures, this expansion allows you to craft dozens of different armies from your ranks of models. Rules on how to muster armies from the army lists are covered, as are clarifications of wargear and limits on models, missile fire, and siege engine use.

The use of allied armies is another subject that is broached in the Legions of Middle-earth expansion. Included with each army list is a roster of armies with which they can ally. There are actually no limits on the number of different army lists that you can use to form your army. The only rule is that each 'contingent' must be led by a Hero, and – of course – all contingents must be allowed to ally with each other. This flexibility is great for players with a lot of different miniatures for The Lord of The Rings, as they will have no problem building an army, and an interesting one at that.
