LUSTRIA PREVIEW

Page: 1|2|3

SCENARIOS

Warhammer Realms: Lustria contains six entirely new scenarios, all of which are designed to exemplify the perilous, narrative-driven type of confrontation typical of the setting. From a desperate gamble to rescue a comrade from gruesome ritual sacrifice to a daring ambush as the enemy crosses a fast-flowing river, these scenarios offer characterful and challenging alternatives to the rules found in the Warhammer rulebook.

Warhammer Realms: Lustria contains an extensive section on campaigning in Lustria and presents a complete, node-map campaign system that players can pick up and use straight "out of the box." The section contains detailed information on generating territory and locations, the lines of march that connect them, and the special rules associated with each. No campaign system would be complete without a system for advancing your mighty heroes and nefarious bad guys, and Warhammer Realms: Lustria contains a comprehensive system of veteran honours to ensure that characters advance as befits their legendary deeds (or indeed, ignominious defeats!).

THE RISE OF SOTEK

Central to the history of the continent of Lustria and to its inhabitants is the Rise of Sotek. This period saw the rise of the Skaven Clan Pestilens amid the plague-ridden swamps and ended only after an epic, millennium-spanning war that culminated in the coming of the Serpent God Sotek and the expulsion of the rat-things from the Lizardmen realm. Warhammer Realms: Lustria presents details of the Rise of Sotek as well as in-depth advice on setting a campaign during this period of history.

The Rise of Sotek section of Warhammer Realms: Lustria is home to two army variants - the Red Host of Tehenhauin and the Bubonic Court of Nurglitch. Each is led by a mighty special character: Tehenhauin, the Prophet of Sotek, in the case of the Red Host, and Nurglitch, the Arch Plague Lord, in the case of the Bubonic Court.

The Red Host of Tehenhauin attacks in the manner of its patron deity, the twin-tailed serpent. As a snake slithers through the undergrowth, so too the Red Host makes use of its knowledge of the jungle to approach the enemy silently and await the opportune moment to strike. At the moment of attack, the Host strikes with lethal intent and focuses all its venomous hatred into the enemy's weakest point. Throughout history, spawning pools have produced such hosts at times of great strife, but the greatest army of this kind was that led by Tehenhauin, the Prophet of Sotek and scourge of the rat spawn.

Tehenhauin's armies were predominantly composed of Red Crested Skinks - a particularly warlike and hardy spawning able to resist the predations of the vile plagues of Clan Pestilens. The Red Host of Tehenhauin therefore emphasises Skinks above Saurus, and the Sacred Spawning of Sotek is much in evidence.

The Skaven of Clan Pestilens bear corruption and disease as a sign of their dedication to all that is foul. The Bubonic Court of Nurglitch rose from a nameless band of Skaven that long ago penetrated the jungles of Lustria. The majority of the original members of this band succumbed to the tropical diseases running rampant through the realm of the Lizardmen. In a short time, it looked as though all the Skaven invaders would perish, until one of the last remaining Skaven sealed a pact with a new god. His followers embraced new plagues and maladies as gifts from their adopted deity.

The diseases that ensued ravaged the bodies of the Skaven, who became so vile that they were able to shrug off the jungle-borne plagues with ease. Nurglitch was the first of the Plague Lords of Clan Pestilens and was responsible not only for the ascension of his followers as a clan and its place on the Council of Thirteen but also for the corruption that gnarls the bodies of the Clanrats and marks their souls.

The Bubonic Court of Nurglitch army list emphasises Plague Monks and Censer Bearers and contains a number of other new units Skaven players will be keen to explore, from the dead-on-their-feet Pusbags to the Cauldron of a Thousand Poxes.
