MAKING THE BASE
With a steel ruler (consider a protractor and triangle, too), draw out the pattern for the perimeter of the Lair on 1"-thick insulation foam, preferably from a single sheet for added strength. Alternately, you can glue together several smaller pieces of foam to make this a larger shape. You might want to hold off on cutting out the octagonal section of the table until you have made your dais (next step), so you can cut the base to match it exactly.
