The Feral Orks have captured the Objective, but the Imperial Guard are still at full strength and are ready to unleash fiery death on the massed horde. Can the Greenskins survive the battle cannon salvos and carry off their prize?

The Orks pour forward to grab the objective counter. |
The Ork Wildboyz held their trophy aloft and quickly regretted it as the Leman Russ' battlecannon rained death upon them. The Imperial infantry solemnly fixed bayonets and advanced relying on their supports to blast the Orks out of the way. The Orks fired back, their rockets, lobbas and even their Wierdboy struck at the Imperial vehicles, but with little success. The Orks did not switch to defence though. On one flank they poured forward pinning back the Imperial Guard who needed to rapid fire to hold them at bay. Grishnak Grimjaw himself mounted on his Cyboar charged at an Imperial Sentinel but was unable to damage it and was attacked by Lieutenant Skeet and his Command squad. The Ork Warboss found his mighty bangstik behaving erratically to the extent he could not inflict any wounds. He was still shouting at it when Skeet's Guards bayoneted him. His consolation was that far to the rear the precious armour was being carried back on the shoulders of the surviving Wildboyz.

END GAME
Although the Imperial shooting was inflicting enormous casualties there
was still too many Orks for any kind of assault into close combat to have
a hope of succeeding. As a last gesture Captain Gauge and Lieutenant Slicer
mounted their Chimeras and drove toward the objective. It was a doomed effort.
The Ork lobbas found their range perfectly and the lead Chimera was hit,
bursting into flames before exploding. Slicer and some of his men got out
but the delay was fatal as they and the other Chimera were entangled in a
powerful Ork attack and were compelled to stand with their men to fight it
off. The Feral Orks had stood their ground and traded their lives for time.
While they stood the Guardsmen could not get close and the objective became
ever less attainable.
A few days after the battle a wounded boar staggered back into a village hidden in Armageddon's equatorial jungle. Slumped on the back of it was an Ork who really should have been dead. Misery the Shaman saw the battered figure of his master, Grishnak Grimjaw and pointed excitedly, accidentally burning one of his minderz with a subconscious burst of warp energy. As the Orks gathered around their leader the door to Slazrat the Pig Dok's shack opened. The inside was a cross between a garage and an abattoir. A half dismantled set of Terminator armour hung on a hook, the gauntlet from the suit was in Slazrat's left hand, in his right was a wickedly curved and highly unsanitary slicing knife. He looked from the gauntlet to the wounded Warboss and back again, gradually a sly grin came over his features.
VICTORY!
Adrian: At last, victory for the Orks but at what cost? I'm used to the Orks dying in droves but I have to say, in this battle they really did! Admittedly I did use the whole army as a buffer to keep hold of the Mission objective, no wonder I had no army left. On the other hand, the Imperial Guard hardly seemed to suffer a casualty, I spent most of my time trying to smash the tanks with my rokkits and lobbas. And things could have been a lot worse for the Orks too. If the objective counter had been on the other side of the board, I'd have never got it!
It was plenty obvious that the Huntas had Pete worried, he spent a lot of time pounding them. At BS 3 and with a S4, 24" range weapon I think that's understandable. I think I need to merge the Feral Ork's second greatest strength, their increased Ballistic Skill, with their first, their strength of numbers. So far I've been trying to build an army based on the models that have rather than just making a whole load of new mobs up. Now I know what mobs I need to put together and this'll make my life a lot easier. According to the story Pete wrote at the end of his report on the game Grishnak needs a power claw, and if I decided to mount up my Warboss again I would probably go for one too. However I think I much prefer my Warboss to stick with his Boyz rather than race off on his own. Once I've made a suitable model I'll take him on a boar again.
