'Ere We Go!
TACTICS FOR ORK WARLORDS

Page: 1|2|3|4

TANK KILLIN'

A t first glance, an enemy battletank is a troublesome foe for an Ork player. There are two units that excel at tank hunting, however: Tankhuntas and Warbikes. By taking both, a cunning Ork player forces his opponent to either split his fire or concentrate on one foe. In either case, something will survive to threaten enemy armour.

Ork Warbikers

Warbikers are tough and fast and can be used in tandem with other fast assault units as support, held back for a later charge when the boys charge in, or an end-of-battle objective grab. Their Dakkaguns are tough enough to threaten infantry and light vehicles but lack the punch to worry battletanks head on. Get them around and behind the enemy lines, though, and even Strength 5 weapons can have an explosive effect on the rear armour of tanks. Their high Toughness and exhaust clouds make them a natural choice for a power klaw delivery service to the front lines of your opponent; in particular, the rear armour of enemy tanks is a more than tempting target for your klaw. Open up the throttle and use your speed to get down a flank, ready to threaten enemy armour. If the tank turns to face them, he'll expose his side armour to your cunningly deployed tankbustas – it's almost like a... what's the word? A taktik!

Tankbustas have a reputation for scuttling tanks, hence the moniker. If facing opponents with high-armour rated vehicles, their Glory Hogs rule demands that they shoot at the vehicles before anything else! With so many rokkits, though, this is what you'd want them to be doing anyway. New to the Tankbustas are fearsome bomb-squigs loaded up with all kinds of high-powered explosives that will run toward vehicles (somewhat unpredictably) and blow them sky-high. Tankbustas have invented a new close-combat weapon as well called a tankhammer: a rokkit tied to the end of an axe-handle that can be swung into any target that deserves it (practically anyone). The versatility of the Tankbustas extends beyond tanks; Wraithlords and other big beasties all deserve a good clobbering, too. For this reason, make sure you advance with your Tankbustas and get close to the enemy. Your rokkit launchas are an assault weapon, so there's no advantage in remaining still.

Ork Nobz

Nobz is bigger and better than runtier Orks. There won't be many that can handle a charge from a fully equipped Nobz mob. One of the Nobz should surely remember to bring his Waaagh! banner for increased Weapon Skill; against most foes, these ladz will charge in hitting on 3's and wounding on 2's! The ability to take a dizzying array of 'urty hand-to-hand fightin' stuff is an obvious choice, however Nobz can also take kombi-weapons for a different flavour. The inclusion of a Painboy seems almost mandatory, as he will confer a poisoned weapon attack, and the Feel No Pain save as well (the irony!). With the option of taking a Battlewagon as a transport, Nobz squads will quickly earn an ugly reputation with your opponents!

WAT WOZ DA PLAN AGAIN?

L arge units of Boyz can overwhelm the enemy! Trukk Boyz can be used to engage units early on in the game, holding them up for the rest of the ladz to arrive (slow pokes that they are). Use Burna Boyz for close-range support and Lootas to counter enemy heavy weapons. Warbikes and Tankbustas used together can make short work of tanks. Remember, dis 'ere is only a small fraction of the tricks an Ork Warboss can use. Orks work best when used together, supporting each other or adding specialist skills to units. Best of all, Orks work best when duffin' up stuff, so do what you can to help the ladz get stuck in.
