Once you have primed the models with Chaos Black Spray Primer, painting can begin. Below, you will find a simple-but-effective color scheme using nine colors. Follow the detailed instructions and check out the stage-by-stage images for reference as you paint your models. Don't fret if the model doesn't come out picture-perfect in the end; painting takes time and practice to master. Just do the best you can each time and be open to learning new techniques from others. Before you know it, you'll be quite an accomplished painter with models you'll be proud to game with!
By following this technique with your own Clanrats, you'll be able to paint up large numbers of infantry. The same methods can certainly be used for painting Clanrat Slaves and Stormvermin as well.

Start by drybrushing the fur with Vermin Fur. Follow this with a light drybrush of Snakebite Leather. |
| 2 |
Carefully add highlights of Vomit Brown to the hands, face, tail, and feet. Paint the cloth and armour of the Skaven with Scab Red. |
| 3 |
Highlight the red areas with Red Gore Paint the blades
with Chainmail. Add more highlights to the face and leather straps
with a 1:1 mix of Vomit Brown and Skull White. Now, pick out the teeth
and eyes with Skull White. Paint the studs in the armour with Chaos
Black to get them ready for the next step. |
| 4 |
Finally, paint the studs with Chainmail and add some
watered-down Black Ink to the metal areas before basing the models
and adding the shield. |
