Martin Cox: I really wanted to take the idea of the Emperor's Champion to the extreme, with him walking around and duelling whom he deemed fit for his wrath. The walking pose of the current Emperor's Champion model fitted perfectly into my design. First, I had to remove and replace his shoulder pads. I did not want to just cut the arms off, because who can say "no" to studded gauntlets? The Crux Terminatus shoulder pad came from the Space Marine Command sprue (Item #99380101017), and the Black Templar shoulder pad came off the Crusader sprue. I made the pointing arm by lopping off the Black Sword hand at the wrist and replacing it with the hand from the Devastators Sergeant's Arm (Item #9947010118601).

This conversion, combined with his head tilted down, now gives the figure a great judgmental/commanding stare. Next, I placed the Black Sword in his left hand, held at the ready. The crusader seals and holstered bolt pistol made for nice additions from the Crusader sprue. Last but not least, nothing says power and holiness like an Iron Halo and cloak. These two pieces came from Celestine the Living Saint (Items #9947010806102 and #9947010806103) of the Witch Hunters range.
