SQUAD SELECTION AND TACTICA
David Sckrabulis: With the release of the new Codex: Space Marines, I decided to take advantage of the new Trait rules to customise my Red Hunters Space Marine army. I wanted a force with close ties to the Inquisition thereby allowing for a trusted relation with the Grey Knights Chapter. I'm also planning on including Daemonhunter allies as part of my army.
I am officially the slowest painter in the universe – the fewer troops I have to paint, the sooner I can play a few games. Thus, when taking on a new army project, I tend to "beef up" the points cost of my initial army list. The new Space Marine Command squad has a never-ending number of equipment goodies, and it can get a bit silly in points cost as you can see from my 500-point, six-model squad.
I gave the skills True Grit, Counter Attack, and Furious Charge to my Command squad. These skills make it primarily a close-assault squad with 3 Attacks for each Space Marine! As a result, I armed every model with a bolter and either a close combat weapon or power sword. The Commander was the only exception – I armed him with a storm bolter (sacrificing 1 Attack for an extra bolter shot) and a lighting claw. This configuration allowed the Command squad to lay down a barrage of bolter fire while charging toward the enemy. Meanwhile, the Razorback transport would assist with heavy bolter support fire.
Lastly, I also equipped the Company Standard Bearer with a teleport homer to give my Grey Knight Terminator allies a solid Deep Strike anchor point once the Command squad gets overwhelmed in close combat, which is very likely. However, I still dare any foes to stand against them!

THE CONVERTED COMMAND SQUAD
The new Command squad models are so beautiful that I didn't feel the need to do much model converting. Aside from modifying the Inquisitor Lord Torquemada model to make my Chapter Master, and mismatching some parts from other Space Marine plastic sprues (like the new Space Marine Commander sprue), the conversion work was minimal for my Command squad.
