Codex: Dark AngelsWarhammer 40,000 RulebookOnce you have explored the secrets of the Dark Angels and decided that they are the Warhammer 40,000 army for you, the next step is to get Codex: Dark Angels.

Of course, to get the most from this codex, you'll need the main Warhammer 40,000 rules! You can get these rules in the Warhammer 40,000 rulebook (shown right) or in the Battle for Macragge boxed set. Either way, the Warhammer 40,000 rules will help you understand the gaming information presented in Codex: Dark Angels, and put it all in the context of the greater universe of Warhammer 40,000.

Every Codex is divided into four main sections, each of which deals with different aspects of the army. Codex: Dark Angels contains:

Artwork from Codex: Dark AngelsThe Dark Angels. This first section introduces the Unforgiven and their desperate struggle to restore their honour in the eyes of the Emperor. It covers the most pivotal events in Dark Angels history and the brutal engagements in which this ancient Chapter has fought.

Pages from Codex: Dark AngelsForces of the Dark Angels. Every unit type in the Dark Angels Chapter is examined here. Each entry includes a full description alongside complete rules and details of any unique abilities that unit type possesses.

The Dark Angels at WarThe Dark Angels Army. In the final section, you will see photographs of the range of Citadel miniatures available for the Dark Angels, gloriously painted by Games Workshop's 'Eavy Metal team. Colour schemes for the different elements of the Chapter and example armies can all be found in this section.

A page from Codex: Dark AngelsThe Dark Angels Army List. The army list takes all of the warriors presented in the previous section and arranges them so you can choose an army for your games. Units are classed as either HQ, Elites, Troops, Fast Attack, or Heavy Support and can be taken in different quantities depending on the number of other units you have taken. Each unit also has a points value to help ensure you can pit your army against an opponent's in a fair match.

Once you have your own copy of Codex: Dark Angels, it's time to start building your army of miniatures.
