Getting Started With the Dark Angels
STEP 3: WRITE AN ARMY LIST

1|2|3|4|5|6

After thumbing through the Codex, you'll get a sense of what options you have available to you as you assemble your Dark Angels army. There are a lot of them! The possible combinations for an Dark Angels army list are nearly endless, which can be a little overwhelming when you're starting out. Don't worry — every other Dark Angels player has been in your shoes before, and they came up with their own army lists after a bit of experimentation. The list below gives you some idea of what you're trying to make.

This list totals in at 490 points. The 500-point target is a good one as you start building the "core" of your Dark Angels army, which is a group of units that you'll field in almost every game of Warhammer 40,000, be it at 500 points or 2,000. You'll always need your "core" army, so it's a good place to start.

As you can see from the list above, each unit corresponds to a Dark Angels blister pack or boxed set. Once you draw up a list, you'll have a good idea of what Dark Angels miniatures you'll want to get from your local Games Workshop Hobby Centre, Direct, or from the Online Store.
