Space Marines are the most powerful and dreaded of all the human warriors in Warhammer 40,000. They are not human at all but superhuman, having been made superior, in all respects, to a normal man by a harsh regime of genetic modification, psycho-conditioning, and rigorous training. Being few in number compared to the uncounted billions of Humanity, Space Marines are organised into small, independent armies called Chapters. Each Chapter is responsible for its own recruitment, training, equipment, organisation, and strategy. The Space Marines' unswerving loyalty is to the Emperor of Mankind and no other.
Collecting, painting, and fielding a brand-new army for Warhammer 40,000 may seem a bit daunting at first. Fear not! On the following pages, you'll find a bunch of useful information on how to assemble your models and give them a basic paint job with a minimal number of colours. There's even a fun scenario you can play using just the contents of a plastic Space Marines Tactical Squad boxed set. With this scenario, you can start playing right away as you gradually amass your army.
It's time to get started, so gather your clippers, glue, and paints. Armies don't paint themselves you know!
