Colours of The Wolf
PAINTING SPACE WOLVES SPACE MARINES

In this step-by-step guide, we explain how to paint your Space Wolves Space Marines and get them ready for the tabletop field of battle.

Painting Space Wolves Space Marines

There are many, many ways to paint a Space Marine. You can paint them according to a specific Chapter or make a colour scheme up on your own! Here we'll learn how a Space Wolf can be painted using 17 colours. Once your model has an undercoat, painting can begin. Follow the detailed instructions and check out the stage by stage images as you paint your model for reference. Don't fret if the model doesn't come out picture perfect in the end, painting takes time and practice to master. Just do the best you can each time and be open to learning new techniques from others. Before you know it, you'll be quite an accomplished painter with models you'll be proud to game with!

The face is given a wash of Bestial Brown with varnish added to the paint in order to break the surface tension. A slightly thinned mix of 70/30 Shadow Grey and Space Wolves Grey was carefully painted onto the edges of the armour. Try to ensure that the lines are of the same size and wide enough to allow you to paint on narrower lines in the next step. All other areas were painted Chaos Black.

3

A slightly thinned mix of 50/50 Shadow Grey and Space Wolves Grey is carefully painted onto the edges of the power armour for the final highlight. The gun casing, hair, and wolf heads on the backpack are highlighted with a mix of Chaos Black and Codex Grey. The face is now given a highlight of Bronzed Flesh. The chest eagle and wolf icon on the gun casing are painted Brazen Brass. The purity seal is painted with Dark Angel Green. The parchment of the purity seal, all dangling teeth, and the skull on the shoulder pad are painted Bestial Brown. Any rune stones can be painted with Red Gore. Your model is certainly suitable for gaming at this point!

4

More Codex Grey is added to Chaos Black for the final highlight on the gun casing, hair, and wolf heads on the backpack. The face is given a highlight of Bronzed Flesh mixed with Skull White. The chest eagle and wolf icon on the gun casing are highlighted with Shining Gold. The purity seal is highlighted with Snot Green and Dark Angel Green. The parchment of the purity seal, all dangling teeth and the skull on the shoulder pad are highlighted with Bubonic Brown. Any rune stones should be highlighted with Blood Red.

5

A final highlight of Burnished Gold is used on the chest eagle and wolf icon of the gun casing. Use Bleached Bone as the final highlight on the parchment of the purity seal, all dangling teeth and the skull on the shoulder pad. The eyes and teeth were finished with Chaos Black and Skull White along with a steady hand! Shadow Grey is very steadily painted onto all the soft ridges in between the armour plates. Finally Boltgun Metal is painted onto all the metal areas of the boltgun.
