PRE-GAME STRATEGY FOR THE FORCES OF GOOD

Bryan Barnes
Bryan Barnes
Bryan: Well, I guess the silver lining here is that since Frodo is no longer with us, I don't have to worry about him being slain in this scenario. I just have to keep five members of the Fellowship alive through 10 turns. I only have Aragorn, Gandalf, Gimli, Boromir, and Sam left. Sam is the weakest, so I'm going to have to keep him from the bulk of the combat.

My plan is to rush Boromir, Gimli, and Aragorn into the doorway gap in Turn 1, with Legolas and Gandalf forming a second line followed by Sam. The control zones of this line of three will keep any Moria Goblins from pushing past, and it might even limit the number of models Ty can deploy. This plan might be unsportsmanlike, but the Good side needs all the help it can get at this point.

Of course, this plan will be for naught if Gandalf decides to put on The Ring. However, I have a plan on that front. The Courage test only comes up if Gandalf moves, so I might be able to avoid the lure of The Ring altogether if I deploy him well (and no one dies so he has to fill a hole in the line).
