FORCES OF GOOD POST-GAME CONCLUSIONS

Bryan Barnes
Bryan Barnes
Bryan: Legolas?!! What happened to "Mr. I-can-surf-a-shield-and-a-Mûmak-while-shooting-my-bow?" What, did he trip on his well-manicured golden locks? How does the most nimble Elf in Middle-earth miss a jump and fall to his death like a klutz? Prince of Mirkwood, indeed...

Not that his untimely death was my only problem during this scenario. With such a weakened Fellowship, I needed some luck to go my way. It didn't. Three chasms slowed me down to such a degree that Ty had enough time to field four Goblin Captains and two Cave Trolls. That, and his Archers were far more effective than I had expected with Blinding Light in effect.

Well, if the Fellowship was in bad shape before, they're flat-lining now. I failed to revive Boromir during the Recovery phase, and Legolas's fall into shadow prevented any recovery in the first place. Of the Nine that left Rivendell, only four remain: Gandalf (the fill-in Ringbearer), Aragorn, Gimli, and Sam. Of those four, only Gandalf has any Fate points left (1). Aragorn is barely alive, and his free Might point per turn will be his only chance at survival. However, he has the highest number of Will points of the group, which means that Gandalf might have to give Aragorn The Ring soon — especially since Gandalf won't be around after the Bridge.

It looks like the Balrog is going to have some nice crunchy snacks in the next scenario.
