FORCES OF EVIL POST-GAME CONCLUSIONS

Ty Finocchiaro
Ty Finocchiaro
Ty: Well, Ken went and did the complete opposite of what I expected. Instead of tearing off towards the ford and leaving me in the dust, he turned around and challenged me. I was totally surprised by this turn of events. Was Ken crazy? After a turn or 2, it seemed that Ken was in fact not crazy. Aragorn was in prime position to call heroic move after heroic move, and my Nazgûl continued their fine tradition of rolling dreadfully when it came down to combat results.

However, Ken was not wounding all that well, not moving towards the ford, and the initial group of Ringwraiths stuck around long enough for me to roll pretty well for reinforcements. Each time a Nazgûl dropped, another was there to take its place. By keeping the enemy in a concentrated area, I was able to send my minions wherever they were needed. My spells did not go so great and cost me a lot of Will points. One spell did work spectacularly, though. A crucial Black Dart blew Arwen off her steed and sent Frodo tumbling into the path of a charging Nazgûl. This event pretty much sealed the victory for me, as Frodo was trampled and slashed to ribbons by the triumphant Ringwraith! However, he did get 1 Wound back during the post-game recovery, so he managed to limp onwards to the healing skills of Elrond.

As a bonus, during the last turn of the game, I finally managed to put Sam down. He had resisted all the forms of malice I directed at him the entire game. Black Darts, charging Ringwraiths on horseback, and outnumbered combats did nothing to harm him. Sam is one hardy little Hobbit. Still, after the game, there's always the chance that someone reduced to 0 Wounds during the game might really have succumbed to death's cold embrace. Ken rolled 2 dice (Sam has 2 Wounds), and the numbers came up...2 and 5. So, Sam lives on — but man, that was close.
