PRE-GAME STRATEGY FOR THE FORCES OF EVIL

Ty Finocchiaro
Ty Finocchiaro
Ty: This scenario is not a very pleasant challenge for the Evil player. It seems four of the Nazgûl have been duped into following after Gandalf instead of hunting down Frodo in force. The goal now is to slay Gandalf or just to get three of the Ringwraiths off the opposite table edge... all the while avoiding six powerful Dúnedain. Complicating this objective is the fact that the scenario is being played as a linked campaign, so any special rules that mess with Hero stat lines are ignored. Thus, the special rule that simulates Gandalf's weariness at this point (massive loss of Might, Will, and Fate points) after battling the Nazgûl at Amon Sûl will not be helping my cause. That would have been nice, but I suppose it's really my fault for not doing a better job against the old man during Scenario 6!

So, what's my plan? Well, to be honest, I'm going to send in my four weakest Ringwraiths (one of them has a mere 3 Will points...) and hope for the best. This way, the remaining powerful Nazgûl and the Witch-king can concentrate on taking down the two remaining Hobbits at Amon Sûl in Scenario 8. I just don't see the point in wasting my time chasing Gandalf around in the woods when there's a very good chance that the world will plunge into darkness during the course of the next scenario. I ain't no dummy!

In this scenario, the Dúnedain will be deployed along the table edge opposite Gandalf, and the Ringwraiths will deploy in the centre of the table. This set-up will allow me some time to harass Gandalf for a few turns before the Dúnedain arrive to destroy the Ringwraiths utterly and easily. So, with a double-massive amount of freakishly good luck, I might be able to kill Gandalf - but I seeeeeeeeriously doubt it.
