PRE-GAME STRATEGY FOR THE FORCES OF GOOD

I might have a chance of getting Sam and Legolas back up to health during the Recovery phase after this scenario, that would allow me to make up for depleting them in the last battle report, so one of my top priorities will be to make sure Sam and Legolas live through this game.
Now, I COULD be a total cheesy jerk and just leave Frodo behind and get the rest of the Fellowship off the board. With Sam in tow, that would make for five models, which is enough to win the scenario based on the way it's written. However, I'm told that wouldn't be "true to the spirit of the game" – whatever that means. So, I guess I'll be a scrub and not play to win this time... just to make everyone happy. I miss being Evil.
So, I have to rescue Mr. Frodo post haste. I'm going to leave Legolas back by the gate to shoot from safety, and I'll try to move Sam towards the gate as quickly as I can (I'll deploy him as far from the pool as possible to make up for his 4" movement). Aragorn, Gandalf, Boromir, and Gimli will have to pick up most of the fighting. However, lucky for me, charging is all it takes to get the tentacles to drop Frodo. If Legolas and Aragorn can't shoot him free, I'll charge in there and get him. That should work, right?
