Captain of Núménor
To start down the road toward enjoying this exciting game and hobby, you'll need a few things. First, and most importantly, you'll need some models. Next, you'll need to find an opponent - either a friend who lives down the street or someone you've bumped into once or twice at your local Hobby Centre. However, before any of this can take place, you'll need to get your hands on the rules. These rules govern the gaming system you'll use to play the scenarios. There are two paths into The Lord of The Rings Strategy Battle Game rules system.

The Mines of Moria Boxed Set

Boxed Set
The first is the Mines of Moria boxed set. If you have never played a battle game before, or you would like to collect the plastic miniatures with scenery included, then the Mines of Moria boxed set is for you. Inside you'll find the basic rulebook that explains the rules, a comprehensive group of scenarios designed to teach the rules as you play, a pile of plastic miniatures featuring all The Fellowship members, a horde of Moria Goblins, and a mighty Cave Troll – plus dice, rulers, and plastic scenery. To have an in-depth look at the contents of the Mines of Moria, head here. The second way to get into the The Lord of The Rings Strategy Battle Game is to purchase the hardcover rulebook outright. If you are familiar with battle games, this massive book is the path for you.

Once you have the rules, it's time to start collecting miniatures.
