INTRODUCTION TO THE GAMES RULES
The first few chapters of the rulebook contain all the basic rules that you will need as you learn to play the game. You are in control of 10 or more models, competing against your opponent who is fielding a similar force. As you battle across the tabletop that represents a battlefield of Middle-earth, the rules show you how to move, shoot, and fight hand-to-hand with your models. Whether you are a seasoned veteran or a newcomer to the world of battle games, you will find The Lord of The Rings Strategy Battle Game easy to grasp.
ADVANCED RULES
After you wrap your brain around the basics, you can soon master the additional, more advanced rules which give the game even more character, depth, and flavour. They include rules for defending barriers, fighting on horseback, fielding a Mûmak, and how to play with the heroic characters like the members of The Fellowship.

SCENARIOS
The scenarios section explains the format of the scenarios that players will find later in the book, in future gaming supplements, in the pages of White Dwarf, and on this very website. Guidelines show how players can create their own scenarios along with a set of common scenario-specific rules that players can add to spice up their encounters. A sample scenario, Balin's Tomb, is included to illustrate just how easy it can be to make up a scenario for your games.
FORCES
This section includes a full list of character profiles and backgrounds of the Good people of Middle-earth and the Forces of Darkness who appear in the film and book trilogy. Descriptions of each region and its denizens are included for The Shire, Arnor & Angmar, The Elven Havens, Moria, The Woodland Regions, Rohan, Isengard, Gondor, Men of Númenor, Mordor, The Dwarf Holds, A Shadow in the East, and Harad.
