The Lord of The Rings
WHAT IS THE LORD OF THE RINGS
STRATEGY BATTLE GAME?

The Lord of The Rings Strategy Battle Game gives you and your friends every opportunity to relive the excitement of the films and books.

WHAT IS IT?

The Lord of The Rings Strategy Battle Game (SBG) allows you to re-create the adventures and battles from The Lord of The Rings trilogy on a tabletop with detailed miniatures of the heroes and villains you know so well. With a little practice, you'll be able to field an entire force of well-painted and beautifully sculpted The Lord of The Rings miniatures. We'll show you how to transform your average tabletop into the famed locales of Middle-earth with scaled scenery and terrain, from the peaceful fields of the Shire all the way to the brutal slopes of Mordor. What's more, our gaming system puts you in control of the action on the table! You are in command of a force beholden to either Good or Evil – the choice is yours regarding which side to take. That, however, is only your first decision as you shape the fate of Middle-earth. You can fight Uruk-hai at Amon Hen, defend the walls of Helm's Deep, or lay siege to Minas Tirith – the entire trilogy is open to gaming! Plus, you can fight battles that never happened before: ever wonder what would happen if Aragorn and Boromir had faced the Balrog instead of Gandalf?

If you have never played a tabletop battle game before, there is no need to be overwhelmed by the apparent complexity of The Lord of The Rings SBG. The core rules are relatively easy to learn, while many of the special or detailed rules only apply in rare situations and can be safely ignored as you begin the game. Similarly, don't be daunted by the prospect of painting all those miniatures – you don't have to paint all your models to enjoy using them on the battlefield. You can also make do with simple terrain (eg, books under green cloth to make a hill) in the beginning. Soon, though, your hobby abilities will improve with practice, and you'll want to know most of the rules, paint all of your models, and build lots of terrain.

HOW DO I GET STARTED?

The Lord of The Rings Strategy Battle Game

There are two paths into The Lord of The Rings SBG. The first is the Mines of Moria boxed set. If you have never played a battle game before, or you would like to collect the plastic miniatures and scenery included, then the Mines of Moria boxed set is for you. The second way to get into the SBG is to purchase the hardcover rulebook outright. If you are familiar with battle games, this book is the path for you.
